When I replaced an aging wood second story deck with a larger, composite one, I knew I’d need new railings that I hoped would also be maintenance fee or at least low-maintenance.
A local company that was recommended proved unresponsive and seemingly uninterested in doing anything except offering one of two profiles in one of two colours. No samples. No discussion. No visit to the site.
That’s when I stumbled on Grouse Railings. I emailed one evening with an inquiry but didn’t have a lot of hope that they weren’t already too busy or would be equally disinterested.
The next morning Nima Kia got back to me and was at my house shortly after with a tape measure while the deck was still under construction. He offered transparent details on cost and time frame for fabrication and installation. He came back with samples of the aluminum railing profiles because I was unsure. He discussed colour options and left colour samples.
When the colour I wanted (for a nominal charge for custom finishing) wasn’t available he was patient as I looked on my own for a powder coat colour that worked. Nima worked diligently with the powder coat applicator to make sure it was done to a high degree of precision and success.
Every step of the way Nima was prompt, polite and diligent and made me feel like he cared as much about the result as I did.
On installation day Nima arrived with a small crew and efficiently and expertly installed the finished product.
The end result more than met my expectations. Moreover, his level of professionalism and attention to detail added value to the experience.
If you need railings, you’d be making a mistake not to talk to Grouse Railings before pulling the trigger.

Really happy and impressed with the quality of the material being used for the fencing, also the quality of the work being done in a timely manner. Started at 10:00am finished at 4:30pm. No more wood rot or staining needs to be done later down the road. Zero maintenance. Nima Ashrafkia was very outward going as well as his helper who both worked hard and steady.

We love how our glass railing turned out. Please note that our deck contractor did a poor job installing the wood railing with glass panel on our new deck. I called Nima to see what he can do for me. Nima and his team just replaced my ugly old interior loft railing with a glass one and it's made a huge difference. I was surprised that he was able to come and do the job within a week of his first estimate, and he gave me a great deal. He was a pleasure to work with and the finished result is beautiful and very sturdy!
